Under One Roof: Why Integrated Manufacturing Beats a Chain of Subcontractors
Design, laser cutting, folding, robotic welding, powder coating and assembly in one Sydney facility. Why integrated manufacturing cuts risk and lead time.

Think about a typical fabricated assembly. It's cut at one shop, folded at another, welded by a third, trucked to a powder coater and then sent back for assembly. Each move adds freight, waiting time and another business that can misread a drawing.
At OPIE Manufacturing Group, all of it happens at one address: 109 Russell Street, Emu Heights, in Western Sydney. Here's what that looks like, and why it matters.

The hidden cost of handovers
Every handover between subcontractors carries a cost that rarely shows up on a quote:
Time. Each supplier has its own queue. A two-day process can turn into a two-week wait.
Damage. Parts that travel get scratched, bent and lost.
Accountability. When a finished part is out of tolerance, who's responsible: the laser shop, the folder or the welder?
Communication. Every change has to be passed down a chain, and some get lost along the way.
Integration removes those gaps. One team, one schedule, one quality system.
Step by step at Emu Heights
Design for manufacture
Our engineers start with CAD modelling and design-for-manufacture reviews, adjusting bend reliefs, weld access and nesting before anything is cut. Prototypes are made on the same equipment that will run production, so what you approve is what you get.
Laser and tube cutting
TRUMPF fibre lasers (6kW and 8kW) cut sheet and plate, including stainless steel up to 40mm thick, and run up to 20 hours a day, six days a week. Two TRUMPF TruLaser Tube 7000 machines cut tube and profiles with wall thicknesses up to 15mm, so complex hole patterns and slots come off the machine ready for assembly. A TRUMPF TruMatic 6000 combines laser cutting with punching and forming for parts that need both.
Folding and panel bending
TRUMPF TruBend press brakes, from the 7000 series through to the 230-tonne TruBend 5230, handle precision bending. A Salvagnini P2 XE panel bender produces repeatable cabinet and panel parts, which is why Boscotek's cabinet panels are so consistent. An LVD Dyna-Cell robotic press brake handles high-mix small parts.
Welding
Our TRUMPF TruLaser Weld 5000 robotic laser welding cell has an XL cabin of 8250 × 4800 × 3200mm and a turnover positioner rated to 1000kg. It produces deep-penetration structural welds and clean cosmetic welds with minimal distortion. Skilled welders handle TIG, MIG and CMT work, and handheld laser welding takes care of small, intricate assemblies. Details are on the services/laser-welding">laser welding page.
Powder coating
Our Euroimpianti powder coating line accepts parts up to 4600mm long, 1800mm high and 700mm wide. A six-stage chromate-free pre-treatment prepares every part. A closed-loop water system means zero wastewater, and cyclonic recovery reclaims overspray. We're an approved Interpon and Dulux applicator , so warranted finishes are available for demanding environments.
Assembly, dispatch and installation
Parts are assembled, inspected and packed on site, then delivered and, where needed, installed by our own team.

What integration changes for you
Shorter lead times. No waiting in other people's queues.
Fewer defects. Problems are caught at the next workstation, not at the next business.
Clearer accountability. One supplier, one quality record, one point of contact.
Better design. Engineers who know every machine on the floor design parts that are easy to make well.
Traceability. Materials, processes and inspections are recorded under one ISO 9001 quality management system.
When it matters most
Integration matters most when the stakes are high: defence and government programs that need traceability, rail and infrastructure projects with hard deadlines, healthcare fit-outs where finish quality affects hygiene, and product companies that need consistent repeat production.
It's also why our own brands (Boscotek, Argent, Gilkon and SMC Stainless) are made here. We trust the process because we rely on it ourselves.
